PRS Essay and Poetry Prizes

Every year the Pre-Raphaelite Society runs a Poetry Prize and the John Pickard Essay Prize. We are delighted to announce the winners for 2015:

 

The John Pickard Essay Prize

First Prize: Kevin Hill, for his essay ‘Millais’ Muse’

Second place: Diana Tarlindano, ‘The gardens in the paintings of Waterhouse’

 

The Pre-Raphaelite Society Poetry Prize

First place: Lavinia Singer, ‘Winter’s Place’

Second place: Azelina Flint, “Could she have opened the grave, no other hand was needed”

Third place: Andrew Mayne, ‘Burne-Jones’s St George’

Poet-in-Residence’s Commendation: Chris Campbell, ‘The Lady of Shalott Returns’

Editor’s Commendation: Gail-Nina Anderson, ‘The Girl on the Golden Stairs’
